Q. When is the best time to make a bellycast?
A. This unique creation can be done at any time but it
is best done between the 34th and 38th week of pregnancy. Sometimes families don't learn
about pregnancy belly casting until they're almost due,
we'll make every effort to schedule a session as soon as
possible to accommodate your needs. You may even want to have monthly or trimester bellycasts created to show your progression throughout the months!
Q. Can I stand while the cast is being done? A. I would only recommend a comfortable seated position.
Q. How long does the casting process take? A. It takes about an hour from start to finish. Each strip of gauze sets within 3-4 minutes after its application.
Q. Do I have to be nude to make a bellycast? A. I would recommend that you'd be nude for a couple of reasons. First, if your going to wear undergarments, you will see the outline of the garments in your cast. Second, anything you wear under the cast, will get ruined by the
plaster.
Q. How long will my bellycast last? A. It is actually pretty durable for being such a
lightweight sculpture. You should treat it as you would your pricey artwork, on a wall and out of harms way. It can withstand a couple of bumps but sitting or stepping on it will, without a doubt, damage it.
Q. What do people do with their bellycast? A. Most hang their cast in their bedroom or baby's nursery. You may want to paint it using colors to match baby's decor.
